Dr. K. Moidu is the founder Chairman of The KMCT Group of Institutions. Originally from Kuttiady in Calicut, Dr. Moidu is a renowned medical practitioner and a prominent social figure. He was part of the first batch of M.B.B.S. students who graduated from the Madurai Medical College in 1960. In 1968, Dr. Moidu established the Western Hospital, a 50-bed facility in the heart of Calicut city. He later went on to start the National Hospital, a 300-bed multi-specialty hospital. In 1994, he founded The Kunhitharuvai Memorial Charitable Trust Group of Institutions or KMCT to provide exceptional services in the field of education and healthcare. KMCT now includes 22 professional colleges with almost 7000 students. Around 1500 people are directly employed, and 6000 people benefit indirectly through KMCT.
Dr. Moidu was one of the founder directors of Muslim Educational Society (MES), which started many educational institutions in Kerala. A good leader and organizer, Dr. Moidu has served as the president of Calicut Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI), The Rotary Club of Calicut and Indian Medical Association (IMA), Calicut chapter.
